Five years ago you left this town, not once coming back, until now. After you graduated your fist few years of college and moved away from your parents, you basically vowed to yourself that you would only come back if you needed. And you needed to come back for your mother's funeral.
Your four year old son, Alfred, was asleep in the back seat. He had put up a slight fuss, not wanting to come to a strange place. Not once had he ever been to his grandparents house, they had always come to your small apartment.
You glance back at your sleeping boy and smile sadly. His father, Arthur Kirkland, had left for the war (as a doctor) and never returned. His funeral had been two years ago. You still are hesitant to talk about him.
